Liberty Line cites in a Chicago-style note format: author or record creator, title or description, repository, date, and — for archival material — box and folder or record number where available.
Beyond the citation itself, every record displays a research status badge — Verified or Needs verification — so the confidence level is visible at a glance, not buried in a footnote.
Where a source is digitized and publicly accessible, the citation links directly to it. Where it exists only in physical archives, the citation gives enough detail for another researcher to locate it.
If a visitor identifies an error or a better source, Liberty Line updates the entry and its citation — history sites are living documents, not static ones.
